CM Company took on a tenant improvement project for St. Luke’s with a unique challenge; the cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) being improved was in an active surgery unit. Strict anti-infection and prevention protocols were established and followed, as well as the setup of multiple negative air machines and the removal of walls to create a construction path in an effort keep the intrusion on the active surgery unit to a minimum.

With anti-infection protocols being the #1 priority throughout the improvement and the unit active, the management team had to keep in close contact and coordinate daily with surgery staff.

The tenant improvements included replacing the cardiovascular operating room imaging machine and associated equipment, updating electrical and mechanical systems, building a temporary construction path to access the room and then replacing walls or portions of walls demolished in the creation of the path. The wall between the clean hold and soiled utility was moved and a new countertop and casework were created to replace units attached to the demolished wall.
