The new design transformed the original schools library into a new outdoor amphitheater, this provided the district with a new outdoor venue for events, while preserving a piece of history.
In 2005, Boise School District passed a bond election to fund the replacement of a number of existing schools in the District. Included in this bond election was the demolition of the existing South Jr. High School building and construction of this new junior high school.
This building includes complete administrative, academic classrooms, athletic facilities and a 952 seat auditorium. Once the new junior high was completed, the existing building was demolished, and converted to new parking and site facilities for the new junior high. In addition, the existing library facilities were transformed into a new Amphitheater that is a welcome addition for the School District and surrounding community, as well as acts as a historic landmark that commemorates the Original South Junior High School.
Structure: The structure is constructed of load bearing masonry and structural steel roof and floor systems.
