CM Company and the US Navy Seabees stationed at Gowen Field, teamed up to bring a new experience to Zoo Boise patrons.  The wood and mesh habitat is home to the zoo’s “Da Brazza” monkeys and marks the entrance into the new African Plains Exhibit.  Visitors will be able to board a boat on the shores of the lagoon that bisects the zoo and view the enclosure from the water as they travel towards an encounter with the heart of Africa.

While CM Company provided the tools and materials, the Seabees provided the elbow grease and “Can Do” attitude that will make the project a huge success.

The “Da Brazza” monkey enclosure is part of the ongoing African Plains project.  CM Company completed the main bulk of work on the multi-million dollar zoo expansion, covering over three acres and integrating aspects of African culture, including a detailed tribal village.

About the Navy Seabees

Their motto tells the story: “We build, we fight”.  From the island hopping of World War II and the cold of Korea, to the jungles of Vietnam, to the mountains of Bosnia, and the deserts of Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait, the Seabees have built entire bases, bulldozed and paved thousands of miles of roadway and airstrips, and accomplished a myriad of construction projects.
